No more plug problems in '07?

I'm about to take delivery of an '07 I ordered, so I've been reading a lot on here. Plenty of plug stories, blowing them out and having them get stuck and break trying to remove them.

The basic question is simple, are these problems almost all gone by '07? I can't find solid evidence, but there are rumors of some minor head changes along the way (more threads?), different plugs, and different anti-sieze from the factory.

Is this something I need to worry about or not?

I have an 07 also.....no blow out plug problems on 04-up due to more threads on plug hole.....& I heard from a FORD tech that the plugs only break in head if they are removed incorrectly.........no worries......

NO!!! The '07's are developing worse problems than the 04-06 trucks. See, the previous generation 5.4 motors shot plugs out of the head. But the 04+ 5.4 plugs are getting stuck in the heads. But for the 2007 models only, Ford decided to design the 5.4 so that it does both! First, the plug seperates (breaks) while still in the head. That causes the plug insulator to shoot out of the head, and often goes right through your hood. Secondly, it leaves the plug sleeve stuck in the cylinder. The result is that you have to completely remove both heads to get the remants out.

That is such a bunch of "CRAP".......if they are removed incorrectly by hacks at dealerships or Shade Tree Mechanics.....then YaH!!!!! One of my best friends is a Ford Tech, he has changed many plugs no worries, unless you have a Hack do the job!!!!

Seriously? There's no false information there.

Dude - there's a TSB for those who don't know how to change their plugs - I don't have it -don't need it

It's out there , do a search - sounds like you need help

Actually , we use a cordless impact to remove - equalizes torque - no problems - cylinders 3,4 and 8 have to be done by hand - but it's no big deal if you have the recessed 9/16 Ford socket for 2004 motors on up...

To give a SERIOUS answer to your question, no I don't think they've solved or fixed anything in '07 having to do with the plugs. The reason you're probably not seeing any issues with the 07's yet is because they're still too new for anyone to attempt to change them out. But my guess is that time will show them to have the same problems. AFAIK the 2007 uses the same plugs and heads, thus could have the same problems...

That being said, I think that the plug problems for 04+ f150's are RELATIVELY few compared to the number of 5.4's on the road. If you want to be extra sure of your truck, then just pull the plugs every 20,000 miles or so, and apply nickel anti-seize. You should be good to go.
