Flex Fuel??

I have a 2004 F-150 with a V-8. I checked my owners manual and it does not say anything about being able to burn etahnol. What would happen if I was to fill my tank with fuel mixed with ethanol?

At the fuel fill it should have some indication (FFV).
The motor will have obvious different equipment than a strait gas motor.
E85 will run lean in a strait gas motor and should bring on a CEL lamp after several drive cycles.

It is not safe running any more than about 40% ethanol in a straight gas engine except in an emergency, much more than that will be out of range for mixture control. Also, the more ethanol, the harder it is on fuel system components.
