4.9 hesitation
only a slight hesitation but kind of annoying
its noticable mostly in gears 1-3 and a little in 4.
usually around 2500rpm but i dont even have a tach
ran a couple bottles of injector cleaner nothin happened
unplugged a little hose i think it was green, it was on and around the intake manifold on the top.. it was about a 1/4 inch in diameter and pulled off pretty easily.. problem went away but my check engine light came on
could this be the problem?
its a 1994 f150 manual transmission
has about 180,000 km on it
any sugeestions?

Put the green hose back & don't disconnect anything without knowing what it is, what it does, & what will happen.
Get a Haynes manual or a Ford service disk & follow the diagnostics described there.
If you want a tach, it's pretty easy to swap in a '94-96 F-series (gas) or Bronco tach cluster. You can keep your odometer reading if you want to, or you can use the donor cluster's odo. If you can't find one locally, e-mail me; I have a few.

Try to duplicate the hum with it idling in your driveway, then try to find it. Try disconnecting or pinching off various rubber vacuum lines to check the effect. DON'T pinch the hard plastic ones, but plug the suction side of anything you disconnect.

That's an excellent example of taking something out of context, but in the one you quoted, I intended for it to be put BACK & the diagnosis continued. Not for it to be left off, which is the impression I got from your first post in this thread. And that's what I meant about disconnecting something when you don't know what will happen - don't LEAVE it disconnected & go driving.
