Spark Plugs

I am not going to touch my spark plugs. I just bought the truck and it only has 50k on it. When did Ford fix the spark plug launching issue? My truck was mfg in 10/2002, is that problem still a potential for me?

what motor do you have?? if its running good id say leave it alone. when your gas mileage starts to be bad then think about changing them.

Agreed. I wont touch the plugs. I was wondering if I should buy the Time Sert 5553 kit now though.

My truck is VIN code 'L' with the 5.4

I would change them fairly soon.I beleive it is recomended at 60,000miles anyway. When i changed mine i found no anti-seize on the threads and very little dielectric grease in the boots.Atleast pull a couple and cheack out their condition and gap measurements. Also you should make sure they are all torqued properly.

Two items. Don't go by what you see when you take old plugs out.
If the OEM plugs threads were soft nickel coated, they got no anti seize when installed.
As for the dielectric grease, it only lasts a few thousands miles or until the grease hardens and flakes off by being disturbed at replacement or service time.
The grease never stays soft as a grease and the name is not even represenitive of what it is actually useful for.
If in doubt, look up the term 'dielectric". This normally used grease is a long way from that discription.
