AC problems
I know this is an F150 forum but I just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this before..
I am a Paramedic and drive an 05 E450 diesel, van style ambulance for work, The AC only works if the head lights are on and on low beam, if I turn the high beams on, it stops working again. It's got me baffled.

While I am not familuar with your van size and combination; A gas engine usually has a Wide Open Throttle relay that cuts off the compressor under heavey throttle to reduce engine loading for that time interval.
If this relay got wired in or an error was made in a conversion, it would stop A/C.
A way to tell is check to see if this relay operates when you change the lighting.
A relay might have been placed in the A/C circuit to do this
It may be that this was done by intention but I could not think of a reason why unless some one has some idea to save fuel in non emergency operation.
You could have two basic lines of thought here, so handle accordingly.
It could be fixed if you want to.
Let us know, just for kicks.
