power loss???

i have a 05 f150 lariat, with the 5.4L 3V and 3.73 third. recently i was goofing off with a friend of mine and noticed that from a dead stop, if i mash on the gas, it will not spin a tire on dry pavement. i have also been looking into an intake and tuner, but now i am concerned if i have a different problem. am i just now noticing this, or is it really that much of a slug before performance upgrades?

Lots of reasons for this...

1. Normal
2. Your truck is a slug stock - low-end bell curve build
3. Tire compound
4. Available traction exceeds available torque
5. Road surface
6. Ambient air temp - hotter = less power
7. Stock torque managment in action
8. with mods - may or may not do the same thing
9. Poorest way ever to determine power output. D'oh.
10. ???

BTW - I can roast 'em all day on factory twinkies/ Scorpions - Xcal2 with TP hi-octane max perf tuning
