blew plug... bent valve

a friend of mine has a 2000 f150. recently he changed the plugs and used autolite brand plugs as opposed to mastercraft. apparently the mastercraft plugs have a deeper thread. anyway, he blew a plug, and since then has tried the helicoil, and the same thing happened to the same cylinder. this time, he bent a valve. i dont know why that happened, but now he either has to rebuild, or replace the heads. or would he be better off to replace the motor. if replacement is the best option, what should he look for?

Mastercraft? or Motorcraft?

Replacing the heads is cheaper and if done by a non mechanical person will take a bit of time, But it can be done, call a machine shop to for a quote, if the head is warped than get new heads.

If the engine is the 4.6 I wounder if the double overhead cam heads, intake of a mustang 4.6 will fit.

If it's the 5.4 than dump it all togethier and stare over with a fresh 5.4. THe dual timming chains on the 5.4 are a nightmare.

"Mastercraft" ?????

Well - its been kinduh hot - maybe you were just thinking about being out on the lake or something - Wait ! that's CrisCraft isn't it ..

Well then, maybe you were just thinking about Master - OHHH THAT'S DISGUSTING!!!!

If you open the hood and read what it says on the cowl (a little towards the left) It says it's best to use the OEM spark plugs if you want the same performance your truck came with..

From what I've read in here - I would stick with what's suppose to be in these motors.

You can search "plugs" @ the top of the page and gain more knowledge about plugs than you ever wanted to know .. - seriosly - it's been covered lots ..

Good Luck
