Question Engine Swap

I have a 98 F-150 with a 4.6. I had a used 4.6 block given to me by a friend and planned to have it rebuilt to go in my truck. Everyone I have called seems to shy away form building a 4.6 modular engine. So I want to know how much of task is it to swap my 4.6 to a 5.0 engine. Everyone loves to build those and for less money. Is it worth it to swap.

I would say no because thats a completely different motor (modular 4.6 vs. pushrod 5.0) which means that you would have to change everything out, computer, probably transmission, intake setup, ignition system, mass air system, motor mounts, accesories like A/C, power steering, ect.

So I guess a stroker kit is the best way to go to get more displacement out a 4.6. I have seen ads for a few kits that can give a 4.6 the displacement 0f a 302.

How much HP are you looking for out of your 4.6? How much $ are you going to spend on the rebuild.

There are NA 4.6s pushing 1K hp, so they CAN be built. "Like the sign says: speed's just a matter of money."

But if you want power, go to a 3V 5.4L. Have you seen Quint's truck? It would be MUCH easier for you.
