not starting

not starting

i have a 1992 ford f150 4.9 liter getting fire getting fuel turning over but still will not start and inside the distributer cap it fires without actually tryin to crank it when you put the key switch on accesories any help please

Please use punctuation - it's free. And it makes reading easier.

Reset the inertia switch. It's inside the R kick panel under the dash. The owner's manual explains more. If you don't have one, download the '95 or '96 version free from Ford.



If that doesn't help, get a Haynes manual & a cheap digital multimeter, and perform the ignition diagnostic procedure, usually in Ch.5 Sec.5 on p.5-5 (depending on which edition you get).

The cap is not turned 180 degrees is it? When you checked the spark was it a strong blue arc or a weak orange. If it is orange the coil may be weak.
