Romeo vs Windsor 4.6L engine swap question

I have a 97 F150 4.6L Windsor. Motor is toast do to lady (last owner) neglecting oil. "It needs oil?" Well I got truck for cheap and now am on the hunt for new motor. What I have found near by are 2 different Grand Marquis both have 70k ish miles first one is 1992 with romeo motor second one is 1996 with Windsor motor.

What I would like to do is pull one of these motors use its block and heads and fill in the rest with parts off my original truck motor. Any issues here that you might know of? Would both vehicals Block and Motors work or should I stick with the Windsor.

I'am sure I will have many questions and lots of learning will come from this project so any help you can offer would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks Troy

Stick with a truck based engine, hell even find a 5.4 while looking. I would say get a Windsor just because I live there and have built them in the factory so I'm a bit partial. Happy times!

i done the swap both are the same except for the flywheel windsor 8 bolts , romeo 6, valve covers windsor has more so use the valve cover from the one your gonna use, use the flywheel from the donor, the timing belt cover from the windsor, oilpan and the rest from your truck , it works ,mine went from a 98 windsor to a 96 romeo town car. good luck.

Troy,

How did your swap work out? I'm facing the same situation on my '98 F-150, 4.6 Windsor (broken rod bolt). I found a good Towncar Romeo to replace it.
