ITS ALIVE!! new 4.6 but more ?'s

Hey all..My 98 f150 4.6 XL 4x4 is alive and running with its new long block, radiator , heater , and tourque converter..

basicly have some old threads around here asking about the cooling system mess i had , and then how i cracked the block over the winter because i had left unknown water in it..
well long story short, locla machine shop did the rebiuld..she is running

couple questions i am unsure of...
1..power steering pump...i have the conector in the harness for the pump, but the pump had no sensor on it...should there be one there?did someone previous not swap out the sensor with a new pump?was it a model specific option???
2..a kinda big concern..MAIN ENGINE GROUND..when i pulled the engine out, i could have sworn the main ground came off the starter bolt to tranny stud...should it not be grounded to the block???
right now i have it on the starter stud witch is going through an aluminum starter case and then into an aluminum tranny..
i am having tranny problems before i dive in, i want to make sure this thing is grounded properly...

other than this engine running good, just passed MA inspection , though it did not go on a dyno...
having tranny problems now , but i will post in the tranny forum..

just a big thanks to all that have helped to get me running again, and to any who can help with these last questions

Chris

Mine has the unused power steering connector too - just tie it back like it was.
I think you have the ground in right place from what I can recall. There is a second ground from the top of the intake manifold to the firewall - right?

On my 98 the thicker ground on the left routes to the block next to the starter then the thinner ground doubles back and grounds to the frame . - Or maybe that is a trans bolt next to the starter ? I can't remember - looks like it could be , Then that would make the thinner ground wire my main ground . You can see in the first pic that it's bolted to a bracket - That bracket bolts to the frame..

Here some pics I took before I pulled mine to clean it up -

Maybe that will help yuh a little, or confuse the hell out of yuh -

Yeah , tell me about it - the damn wires had riggymortis - some broke coming off - off course that little freaking nut on the starter broke first thing

I ended up replacing everything - I shoulduh left it alone

Freakin Michigan - That's not snow you see on the ground here in the winter - It's freaking SALT!! The county boys get tired of playing poker and pull the preventive maintenance horsesh^t and white wash the roads !!!

Hey Faster150, Look at the torque wrenches on jbrew's bench! He's a animal jbrew you are correct about the county boys, we hear snow in the seven day forecast and start dropping salt on the main roads just to have something to do and play with the dump trucks and frontend loaders. I take the back roads home.

I have Three of the five you see that still work - those cheap plastic things don't last long - They don't take much abuse - I alway end up breaking those stupid batteries off

That Big A$$ torque wrench in the back is the one I just use for wheels - locked in @ 100 ' lbs..
