Question suddenly stalls

1997 4x4 4.6lL triton. Truck was running perfectly until I removed the negative battery cable to avoid shorting anything when I removed the interior door panel to repair the lock. Lock fixed, cable cleaned up and reattached. Now, truck runs fine until I slow way down to pull into a parking space or come to a slow full stop behind another car. The engine just shuts down. No shudder, no miss, just shuts down. I can shift into neutral and restart immediately. If I restart and don't move out immediately, it stops again. It is as though the throttle is not being stopped at idle speed, ( about 600 RPM). Any ideas? Very strange that this started immediately after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Reboot your comp again - sometimes they can get a little buggy . If that don't work - cleaning the MAF sensor and lubing up your IAC might be worth a try .

It sounds like a buggy comp tho - So , give that another shot first. Disconnect your battery and find your PCM fuse in your PDB under the hood and pull that as well. At least 15 minutes then reboot..

Thumbs up suddenly stalls

Thanks for the advice. The solution was rebooting, but much easier than
expected. I couldn't figure out how to open the PDB, so I drove over to my local Autozone where a friend who also has a mechanics shop works. He showed me where the latch is for the PDB, but instead of disconnecting the battery, he just pulled the pcm fuse for a few seconds, then, replaced the fuse and had me start the truck, rev the engine to about 3k and hold it there for about fifteen second. When I released the throttle, the engine dropped to normal idle speed and has worked perfectly since. He said the trick after disconnecting the battery is to restart and hold the engine at high revs long enough, (15 to 20 seconds) so the computer can recognize the absence of the
idle speed setting and restore the setting. Problem solved!!!
