broken bolts.

hey im new here sorry for no intro but i need this info fast. i have a 1991 xlt lariat 5.0. but anyways some of the bolts came out on the left side of the engine and one sheered off they were holding on the alternator bracket and belt tesioner bracket. i dont know how many bolts there are holding it on i was wondering how many there are and if the one that sheered off could be taken out with a easy out and if i take the radiator out so i have room and if this could be done quick if i just worked at it really hard for a day because im in hawaii and its in california so i was hoping to work on it the first day i was there so i could drive it the rest of the time. and when this all happen the alternator wires got pulled out of the plug and i was wondering if that would be easy to fix.

WOW! A bolt is a bolt I don't see why it wouldn't come out with the easy out. Shouldn't take to long at all.

yeah i know. but i was just wondering because its right next to the water pump and i didnt know if it was kinda behind it or something or how easy it would be to get too. i cant see the truck right now so i dont know if i should even be worrying about it or if i need to plan other means of transportation. and i needed other opinions because i was going ot have someone fix it and he said that he doesnt think that the bolt can come out and the alternator plug fixed but i think he just doesnt want to fix it.

Impressive run-ons

The alternator & tensioner are on the RIGHT side of the engine. L & R are always from the operator's perspective, as the vehicle is being driven.

If this was one of the long water pump bolts, it's common for them to rust & break. If there are still at least 2 bolts in the bracket, it's safe to drive for a little while, but don't put more than a few hundred miles on it like that.

To get it out, remove the water pump. You'll need a gasket & some gasket adhesive (I prefer Copp-R-Cote spray), and put plenty of anti-seize lube on all the WP bolts when you put it back together. It's OK to put it on just about anything with threads.
