there's not really a cheap way to do it, and how cheap is cheap, intake and exhaust are two of the best starter mods, but if you want to feel it more, get a programer, i have an edge unit, and i love it... i think i paid 499 for it

I went the intake / exhaust route to start with and did get a bit more power and better mpg, plus a nice sound out of it.. if I was doing it over tho I'd order up ans Xcal2 from Toyer as the 1st mod..

The Xcal2 is custom tuned (at least the ones from TP are) to YOUR truck, the one you're driving, not every other '05 4.6L (for example). You tell Troyer what apps you want tuned for, and what mods, if any, you've installed on your vehicle. They take all these into account and write tunes for YOUR vehicle.
It's also my understanding that the Edge has hiked their prices pretty steeply just recently.. Do a search on here for tuners for more and better info, it's pretty interesting reading..

yep, heres an example

my x-cal2 is programmed to aid me in my 97 4.6L to 02 5.4L swap with a lightning intake on it... totally custom tuning for whatever your wanting to do.

you can do data logging with the x-cal2. for most people it will be over there head but thats where TP comes in.
