I used abrasives and sanded the crap off the first time with a worm/flex bit , so it could run threw each channel . Sears hardware has some nice attachements for your drill motor. You could really do a nice job on er if you had the ambition and time. Lots of elbow grease if you want to get it to the polishing process..

Is there any real benefit other than knowing you have the worlds cleanest intake?
I did the TB and elbow as well - The smoother the flow the better..The motor takes advantage of airflow . I''m at the point where I need more fuel - over 300hp - and need injectors/ bigger pump.
All clean and back together...think Ill be putting out 300+ hp too now
Just need to wait for the parts store to open tomorrow so I can buy a new o-ring for my #1 fuel injector....it was split and was pissing gas all over when i tried to fire it up.

Its back together and runs great. My slight stumble at idle is gone, and it seems to have more power. I accidentally peeled out a bit on the test drive. The second time I peeled out...not an accident.
