Engine knock

This is how the story goes... The 2006 ford expedition was making some weard sounds and jerks from the transmission, so I took it in to Bayshore ford In Pennsville NJ. They said they could find nothing wrong (which I knew they would not) So I told my wife Lets drop off the The f250 light duty when we pick up the expedition because there is some major ( major) thumoing coming from the rear when i take off from a stop sign and or passing a car. I have a extended waranty from (Contential) insurance and they wanted to look at the truck before ford was to change me 1 hour labor to look at it.
I got the call today from the ford dealership saying the insurance company could not find anything wrong with the rear or transmision ( cannot not believe it in my head saying this) but they did find a ROD KNOCk in the engine.
How bad is this?? a New engine for me?? do they have to take the engine out of the truck to fix?? will find out friday or monday for sure what is going on.

Sounds to me that you are in the middle of what we call in the south a 'circle jerk'. I would go to a trusted non Ford dealership shop and get or even pay for another opinion.

Seriously though, Will the repairs be covered by the warranty? How many miles are on the truck? What does the problem sound like etc...
