MY SEL just came on and my scanner picked up a P0358 which my service manual states "COIL IS NOT FIRING". Now everything I've read so far talks about COP's being bad. How are you guys determining which COP is bad? Maybe my scanners just too cheap to tell me which one? Any advice would help. Also my Screw is a 01 5.4L 4x4. If someone knows of a good post I can review that would be great. I did the search for P0358 and only found a few.

P0358 code indicates that the PCM has determined that an electrical fault exists for the primary circuit on the #8 COP.
#8 is the one closest to the firewall on the driver's side.
Check to make certain that the coil's electrical plug is secured.
Someone will probably be along to give you base resistance values, I don't have my service manuals available tonight.... This is one of the few times that I actually support taking a COP resistance check.

I just went out and checked the #8, the first thing I noticed was the I could wiggle the round part by hand so I looked at the little screw holding it in place and it was lose. So I started to think "Am I looking at the right thing" I see the where the fuel line goes into the fuel jector then there the COP kind of round looking with the connector, but like I said I could hand wiggle it, that little screw holding it in place looks loose. Does that matter or am I looking at the wrong thing? Thanks for your response.

Hey JBrew,
when you replace the #8 COP do you also remove the fuel rail or just bend it out and under the rail. Also what special trick do you use when removing the retaining bolt for the COP?

The plastic COP'S have a metal bushing in the ear that the 7mm bolt goes thru and tightens - torque this to spec only , there suppose to be lose to prevent stress cracking .
