07 4.6 STX ummmpphhhhh

I just took delivery of my STX with the 4.6 and to be honest I was a little disappointed in the power. I guess I expected a little bit more since my only other expierence (seat time) behind the wheel of a vehicle with the 4.6 was my wifes 06 Mustang GT. Anywho what are the best performance enhancing mods (chips, exhaust, air intakes) I was happy with towing (small enclosed trailer with 3 dirt bikes) but I wish it had a bit more uummph in everyday driving. Also with the 2.5 leveling kit on the front what is the largest tire size that will fit with the stock 17 inch rims. I am not looking for some monster truck just want a little more power available and a little bit more of an aggressive look.

most people will tell you AF1 intake, magnaflow exhaust, E-fans, 4.11 gears, and mostly an XCal2 tuned by Mike Troyer. After that it'll be little things.

"Go-Fast" mods depends on how much you are willing to spend? I have a .67 turbo going on mine in a couple of months, should be at 400-415 rwhp after a good tune.

Youre going to have even less oomph after you put the bigger tires on. What rear end do you have?

he man, i feel your pain, ive got the 4.6 too. i plan on after i bag maybe swapping for that new diesel coming out in future f150's if the bags can take the weight. or a 5.4 32v navigator motor if it cant. this motor just doesnt have enough power to it, but it does get 23.5 mpg @55 with 3.33 gears. 4.6 was also rated 5th of the 10 best engines this year, they last quite a while if taken care of.

no where near the same buddy!

06 gt's have 3 valves, 300 hp

whereas the 07 4.6 has like 241 hp, 2v.

3v>2v

Not looking for a rubber burning monster, I just want a bit more than its got. I think the exhaust, intake and chip should make a noticeable difference in the acceleration lane getting on the interstate, which is where I feel my truck falls short. Its my transportation to work (64 miles round trip) so a gas guzzling race truck I don't need. I appreciate the info. By the way I was thinking 295/ 70s on the tire size, looked at a truck today with that size and I thought it was a nice fit, plus small enough where a less aggressive tread is still available.

The mustang is definately different, she has alot more money to spend on mods than I do, I have two vices motorcycles and my truck, she only has one, her Mustang.

I had an F-150 with a 4.6L once. Never go there again. With all the money you're gonna have to dump into the 4.6L to get decent performance, you could probably go back to the dealer and trade it in on a 5.4L and be no worse off.
