Need help with a 5.0L

The vehicle is my moms 2000 mountaineer with the 5.0L v8. Today on her way home it completely lost 90% of its power. She had to drive at WOT just to go 10 mph. She said it was chuggin and sputterin and sounded horrible but she was only a mile away from the house so she kept on truckin. She got home and cut it off until my dad got home. When dad got home he started it, it idled just fine, he drove it up and down the driveway a few times(300ft driveway). After the third time driving it up the driveway, he got out and saw water/coolant dripping out from under it. He couldn't tell exactly where it was dripping but he has a good feeling it was from a Freeze Plug on the head or near it. So onto my question:

Can anyone post a picture or a diagram/map of where the freeze plugs on this motor might be? Thanks in advance, ive tried googling but was unsuccessful.

Alls I can tell yuh is that the PCM put her in limp mode to protect the motor - it is suppose to .

It either got to hot - oil to low .. something along those lines - our motors will do that as well ..

Freeze plug on the back of the heads (just like your motor)

yup had that happen on my 97 f150 when the radiator hose blew off and overheated before i saw the temp peg out.It lost all power.Hopefully it didn't hurt the motor if it got that hot.

Have you pulled the codes yet? It'll probably tell you what triggered the fault, but I'm guessing it went into FSC.
