Hang in there, we are trying to figure it out. Watch thread '4.6 Piston Slap' in this section [ENGINE].

WOW!! Is all 8 firing okay? avey, I would say your plugs, wires or coil packs are weak and not burning all your fuel - that's strange.

I wish there was something simple I could do to increase fuel flow without upgrading the pump and injectors again... I have way to much airflow with my homemade intake , it will starve itself for more fuel and bawg down unless I feather it up threw the RPM's a little

It still halls a$$ but I hate haven to milk it a little - it wants more go juice, I thought maybe premium might help because it has a slower burn rate - it made it worse. Freakin thing

Scratch that above - I reset the KAM and Zapped the PRAM (all parameters) last night touching NEG to a hot POS terminal (I haven't reset that way in a while) and used carb cleaner on the MAF this time and my comp adjusted flows perfectly - before I was just disconnecting the battery which should of had the same outcome ? Idunno , but it seams to be taking advantage of all the airflow now, hopefully it will get even better as time goes on - it definitely has the 4 barrel sound as well..

It sounds more like you have an injector sticking open after shutdown. Your fuel lines are still pressurized therefore your residual pressure could be forcing raw fuel to bleed into the cylinder .

I would run all fuel pressure checks - bleed down as well..

You can either get them cleaned or better yet ,check out ebay for a new set if you have allot of miles on er...

That's what I ended up doing - I went to eBay and updated my injectors with Type 3's . They were only $65 for all 8 and they were new..

Good Luck

Did you have to make any other changes when you went to the type 3 injectors? I am going to be buying new injectors soon along with a Edge. I was thinking with the Edge programmer that a injector upgrade would add some extra grunt to the 4.6.

Yes - check out those connectors , there the twin blade design that came from a 2000 crown vic harness - want me to go yank one out and show yuh real quick?

The only difference with the injectors is a better spray pattern and there louder - you can here them pulsing and feel them hitting if yuh grab one while running . That makes it easy to tell if one starts acting up

Thanx 5 point, maybe I should patent that sucker

Avey, 5 point - The smell of gas at start up when cold could still be a stuck injector , even without cats. The cylinder could be full of fuel, as soon as you crank raw fuel could still be dumping down the pipes.

I guess the first thing to check is your oil, if theres a hint of a gas smell to it, that would be a giveaway..

Hope you get them figured out - somethin's not right ...
