troubleshooting p1451 code

Ok I need some help.. I want to test the cannister vent solenoid on my truck. I have read through the forums and they say I need to check the ohms, and they should be between 50 and 60 ohms.. My question is how to I do that. I have a tester at home and it does have an ohms setting on it.. Any help would be appreciated.

You will need a multimeter that has the ohms function....

Sears or Radio shack ususally has them for under $20.

Yeah I have the tester.. but once I get the solenoid off the vehicle how do I test it. From what I have read there are coils in it. Do I just put the tester on each side of the coil and check the ohms?

Put one test lead on each pin of the connector and make your reading.
Adust your scale as needed if not an auto-ranging meter to give the highest resolution reading.
