2004 V8 4.6l 90K miles?

Hey people looking to buy a truck. Its a 2004 F-150 with the V8 4.6l its a 2wd and auto transmission.

I am in Long Beach CA, the truck has 90K miles on it, should i worry about it. How many miles can I expect to get out of it and should I worry about replacing anything expensive at 100k.

I know i will probably do plug wires and plugs, simple stuff. But is there anything major I should worry about.

Thanks any help would be great.

Kevin

maybe new water pump and serpentine belt if it's near 100k miles.. if there aren't any other problems as long as you do routine maint. you oughta get another 100k out of it, at least.. btw, that's on the high side of mileage for a 2004, how much are they asking for it?

I agree, probably nothing too expensive that will need to be replaced if you take care of it. Do you know anything about how well the truck was taken care of by the previous owner? I just bought an 04 stx 4x4 with 74,000 on it for $12,000.

Hey people thanks for the quick reply

The dealership is asking $15,995 but I believe I can bring the price down. The truck looks super clean in and out new brakes and rotors. Too kit for a short test drive no strange noises or anything. According to the carfax it has had 1 owner probably all highway miles.

Very good that it's in good shape!.. I'd offer 'em $14.5 firm and be sure to mention that with the miles it's due for the water pump change as well as all the things you mentioned earlier.. let us know how it goes!!

Firm and assertive

I'll let you know how things go, bringing the wife to look at it. Its really for her so she needs to approve.

Thanks for all the help.

90k for $15K??

I don't know...

I just bought (on the 13th, two days before you posted), an '04 Scab 2WD XLT 4.6L with 29,900 miles on it... for $18k. That truck is only 3 years old, dude. That's 30K a year. Even highway, that's a lotta miles.

If you haven't bought it already, I'd say keep looking. There are better deals out there.
