Can a 4.6 V8 smoke 33' tires with an LSD?

If yes, could you please let me know what gears and modifications you are using to create so much torque? Also, do you have a manual or automatic trasmission? I desperately need more take off for my F150 4x4 Lariat. It has a 4.6 V8 Auto with 3.55 Lsd and 33' mud terrains. Any help would be highly appreciated. Kindest regards!

Thirty-three-footers (33') would be tough to smoke with any engine

Trading up to 4:10's would certainly help, since the 4.6 is no low-end torque monster ...

Seriously, why do you think smokin' tires is an indication of power? It's also a function of tire compound, road surface, available traction, weather conditions, etc ....

Thank you for your reply. No i dont think that smoking the tires is an indication of power. I guess that I just love to have the torque to be able to spin my 33's even for about 6 feet. It just sounds cool and i wouldn't be doing that very often because these tires are quiet expensive. Do you think i would be able to spin both tires with the 4.10s or would it be better to choose the 4.56? btw i dont do any highway driving, the fastest speed i would do would be around 50mph and that would not be very often. Look forward to any replies

You got a few things hurtin ya, 33s, only 3.55, no low end grunt 4.6L, prolly an automatic, and obviously it'll be harder to roast two tires than one with the LSD.

Runnin 265-75-R16 with LS 3.73's in the '97 with the M5OD-R2 stick I can get both rears smokin, but only by revving up to 4500-5000 and droppin' the clutch. Obviously a good way to break stuff...

i'd drop to 4.56 or 5.11 gears if you want to be able to that with the tires you have, front and rears are gonna cost you thoughbut i think you'll be happy with the end results.

do you do much offroading?????

Thank you to all that responded. I am sorry for my delay, had some serious issues to sort out.

Yes, I do a lot of offroading. I am planning to install 4.56 ring and pinion set and a small nitrous kit. Think that will give me the kind of pick-up that I am looking for.

Thanks again

My old 99 had 265/75/16's (31.5ish inches tall) with 3.55's and an open rear end and I could hardly get them to turn over; had to be perfect conditions.
It wasnt really lacking power for a 4.6 either, it could smoke any other 4.6 I had raced, but it still couldnt really turn them...

A set of 4.10's or 4.30's would have made that a totally different truck...
