Ok guys i have got a 2001 F150 5.4L, the check engine light never comes on but it has a miss from time to time i really dont know where to start i have put numerous fuel filters on it and ran bottles and bottles of injector cleaner through it i thought i might get out of it fairly cheap any suggestions, anybody else have the problem, like i said sometimes it is at idle, sometimes its in acceleration but not all the time

 

How many miles?
Ever had the plugs changed?
Need more info.

 

Have you had a diagnostic scan done? [ in mode6 with someone who knows what they are looking at]

 

i had this happen to me on my 01 expedition. then the light came on it was a random misfire. cleared the light and the next day it came on again and #7 was misfire, i changed the cop but it did not help so i changed the plug also and that was the problem. only had 60,000 miles on it and the plug was bad ? don't know about that so i changed them all and runs much better

 

Go to autozone and pull the code. This will help you find a starting place

 

I had the exact same problem on my 01 screw w/ 130,000 miles. I changed the fuel filter and took it to the stealership. I had them change the plugs just cause it was time and also had them run a diagnostics check. Nothing came up on the diagnostics but since I changed the plugs I haven't had the stutter.
