What Is Wrong?
Greetings F-150 Experts!
I have a 2001 Supercrew, 4.6L, 4sp O/D. At the beginning of my drive to work (54 miles) this morning, I noticed a sort of bumpy feeling when accelerating through 30 MPH. Almost a vibration. I pulled over to check the engine and it was running smoothly. I didn't notice it again until the ride home in traffic. Pretty much at low speed and when the transmission was changing gears. I checked the fluid, per the manual instructions. It is fine and didn't smell burnt. I continued my drive and in a few miles, the "Service Engine Soon" light came on.
I plan to take to a shop in the morning but does anyone have an idea what happened or could be causing this? Seems like a transmission issue but would that cause the light to come on?
Thanks,
Steve

There is a coil for each plug? I guess I'm "old school" thinking there is "a" (single) coil that supplies a distributed voltage to the plugs.
I'm in a rental until tomorrow sometime.
Thanks for the feedback and information!

After a prolong period of time , the PCM may shut down the injectors (all of them) in an attempt to preserve the catalytic converter, it could ignite - I not sure of the time frame.

Yes, 8 coils within your Coil on Plug (COP) system..
