aftermarket thermostat?

Do you really think it's a good idea to change to a cooler or hotter thermostat? All of the smog controls and the computer programming is done to maintain optimum effeciency and safety at around 192 degrees (I think that's what it is). Installing a cooler thermostat would lose horsepower, drop effeciency, and increase smog outputs. Installing a hotter thermostat will see a mild improvement in horsepower, effeciency, and reduced emissions....but you are at an increased risk for over-heating, especially if running the stock mech. fan.
If you really want to change the t-stat to gain power, buy some e-fans and a good controller, and enjoy...a safer and better alternative, despite being more expensive.

if properly tuned (custom tuning) then yes a coller t-stat will help because the timing can be adjusted with no detonation, i personally run a 180 along with e-fans that come on at 180 to give me better cooling and no detonation when towing, it will need to be properly tuned to see any gains
