Re gearing is a great way to get more power for towing and for daily driving, You can get the gears from many sites for around the same price. What really counts is where you get them installed. I like going to off road vehicles shops for differential work just because the mechanics do a lot of work on re gearing for guys who are running large tires.
What are you towing and how much does it weigh? I have a 97' f150 with 4.6 and it has spent its whole life towing and hauling and it has done all the jobs I have asked of it. The 4.6L may not be a power house but it is a little work hoarse and with a mod here and there it can do a damn fine job for it's small displacment.

Agreed, gears are a must, I would also think about a good porgrammer wether it be the edge or the xcal2, they greatly improve throttle response and transmission strategies, I have the edge and I leave it on the tow/haul setting and I absolutely love it.

I tow a 31' camper. about 7700 lbs. Pretty much works the truck to death. The camper saleman said the truck would pull it just fine, and it did when I tested it out. I just would'nt want to go to the moutains with it. I am also looking to goto 285 or 305 tires. I just want it all I guess. I want to go when I want to go, you know!!! anyway thanks for all the help.

4.10 gears and an Edge should solve all probs. I put an Edge in a couple of nights ago and love it! Im running 305 50 20s so Im definitely going to a 4.10 soon.
