4.6 Timing

Can anyone give me some help on getting back in time.
I let the left side timing chain slip.
Now I'm not sure how to set the timing on that side.
The right side is still in time.
This is a 2000 4.6 engine.
Thanks for any help!

As long as you didn't move the crank at any time , you should be able to get it .

This is the 5.4L set up , I'm not sure this will help you , but it may -

Below is were the copper link should line up on the right side - marks between , I would set the lft in relation , comparing the diagrams to your setup should tell you if this will work for you ..I dunno , but I could tell if your motor pics were in front of me..

Just a few diagrams that may assist you here -

I found a 4.6 diagram on a 99 CD they are the same from what I can tell , you sould be able to use these -

Both sides are the same , use the copper links to to center marks on the crank and camshafts ..

Like I said , as long as you didn't turn anything - it should be easy to put that chain back on..:o

When you are finished getting it timed, make sure you can rotate the engine by hand a couple of revs to verify there is no piston to valve contact. If there is not any contact you are good to go.
