Alrighty, well I took the #2COP off and cleaned it. Everything was dry, and I tried the start it up. Still rough. I decided to change all the sparkplugs but was unable to to get the #2 plug out, which happens to be the one this misfires. I've heard that you can break the sparkplugs and will need a special tool to get it out or get charged alot of money to have a dealership handle it. I really don't want to mess this up. Any tricks to loosening the spark plug so I can get it out without it breaking or is there another solution that I haven't thought of?

WD-40 will displace water..and protect against corrosion... Fire some of that junk up in that coil. Seriously. That's what it stands for -- Water Displacement.

Change your COP , it's fried now .. Changing the plugs won't help at this point, but if you were doing it any way - that's cool .

If you want to fix your prblem in 10 minutes or so - change out the bad COP..

Good Luck..

Just changed the coil on the #2 to and replaced the old sparkplug. Started up fine. Thanks for the suggestions.

Ryan - if that's the truck in your profile (2001), you won't have the breakage issue - just the opposite, in fact

That issue is reserved for the 5.4L 3v mills...

Should come out, NP. But I agree with the others, it's likely your COP.

Good luck.

So how do you clean!

So while were on this...What is the best way to clean the 5.4 off. Mine has a lot of dried dirt and crap and looks horrible, and can't be good for heat, electrical, so on.

Wise up

I just drove 150 miles in a driving rain storm and the engine started missing. Code reader said it was #5 cylinder missing. I removed the COP and boot and the spark plug well was full of water. Dried out and fine now. Moral of story, if you wash your engine after reading all these many entries suggesting not to, then maybe people who wash engines get what they ask for. Mine has never been washed and it's filthy.
