Around town, I usually get 14-17 mpg. ( 40mph average ) The last few times I was on the highway, I got around 13. Doesn't seem right. Probably averaged 70mph.

its a 5.4L engine. If your going to complain about gas....buy a car. They've been around for years, have a smoother ride, better mileage, and a neat little compartment in the rear for you to store stuff.

That an FX2 you have as your sig? What size wheels do you have on there? Did you drop it? What other mods have you done? You have a nice ride there.

I love my F-150, but if you want a truck that gets gas mileage, get a small truck with a 4 cylinder engine. Even those get lousy mileage when you load them down.

Just got back from a 200 mile highway trip, 100m there and 100m back. Did around 22.1 mpg down trying to save gas running 60 - 70 mph. On the way back averaged 19.1 mpg doing 65 -70+ and not being as frugal. These averages include about 20 miles of in town driving. Have 3.55 gears, 20" wheels, everthing but the brakes and wheels are stock. On one long down hill I put the truck in neutral and coasted at 70 mph. I was doing 99.9 mpg maybe more but that is the maximum readout from the information center. I usually get around 13.5 mpg going back and forth to work. It's the warm up and short distance driving that really eats the gas.

Here's the code for CA:

21710. The driver of a motor vehicle when traveling on down grade
upon any highway shall not coast with the gears of such vehicle in
neutral.

Tried to look it up for MO, but couldn't get into the code. AZ was the same when we lived there as was NY and MA.

Yes, there's plenty of air across the cooler, and I suppose the trans. body.

So you're cuising at 70 or so, right? The engine speed is what, maybe 1800/2000rpm's? Pop it into N on a long downhill. Hey, the engine's now sitting at 600rpm's,along with the torque convertor and pump. Not nearly as much pressure or flow....

So how does the officer prove that you were in natural? Ah... I mean the alleged natural position.

OK people, some of you are getting some pretty good gas mileage . What`s the best thing or things i can do to improve on mine. Since I put my lift and 35" tires I`m getting around 11 mpg

Already have K&N intake & Flow Master Exhaust

more MPG lighter foot/more exhaust

So ya added more weight and rolling resistance,
the two mods ya got are good now maybe try a
free flow Cat and ya might just get ta 14-15 mpg.

Just filled up and checked the mileage. 13.82MPG with about 80% city and 20% highway traffic. I tried to stay at no more than 70MPH on the highway and had maybe 3 or 4 WOT bursts to get around people etc. Was hoping for a bit better, but that's what I got. I would imagine that on a long highway trip at around 70 to 75mph I could get 19ish...
