This is a basic one compared to head gaskets and the like, but my 4.6 F150's alternator gave up the ghost as i was driving through Needles, California on a Sunday no less.

I am lucky it happened close to town because there is nothing for 50 miles either way of that place.

Might check it out to avoid the same thing happening to you. I had to pay the extra "High Desert Sunday Afternoon Tax" and it cost me about $300 bucks

 

I priced everything today at work. Each head gasket is $91(bout $115 customer). I totaled it out with head bolts, exhaust studs and all other gaskets for about $396 my cost
