Limiting Factor
Alright here is a diffrent question then what oil should i use.. oh no! lol
if you were to have a 5.4l 32v. and set the rev's to 10,000. what would happen? What im trying to get to here is what would stop the engine from reaching 10,000 RPM's? would the valves float? ignition problems?
This is all consedering the stock valvetrain and aftermarket (forged) internals that are capable of reaching such rpm's.
and if anyone has modded a modular motor.. what RPM's you running?

you dont want anything revving that high. id say you want 7k at the most. the rev limiter will kick in. plus you would have to adjust tranny shift points etc... not a all around good idea.

well i guess as long as you beef up the motor and tranny you can go as high as u want. like a supercharger. i had a buddy put one in his camaro 350 lt1. he just thru it in at like 7 lbs of boost. he kept the motor completely stock. that motor didnt last long lol.
Your biggest problem is piston speed. Pistons come apart beyond a certain speed, remember they stop every 1/2 rev of the engine and then up to max speed every 1/2 rev. Its a tough life and the pistons in a 5.4 are large chunks of metal with lots of momentum. Take a read at http://www.unofficialbmw.com/all/eng...liability.html
other problem are valve float, engine breathing (big engine to fill) has to be setup for high rpm, fuel supply etc.
If it would run at that rpm you might get 10 mins on a good day!
