is the EGR really not needed
I drive a 97 f150 with the 5.4 and my cel is on and it says evap gross leak something egr. I replaced the the sensor or dpfe or whatever it is and cleard the code but it came back on i didnt know what to do so i just took the bulb out of the cel but i would like to know how do you remove the egr.........
you don't really need it but it will be better in the long run to just fix the problem.
What was the code? maybe just a bad gas cap leak.
With no CEL bulb in you wont know if anything serious is wrong, like a misfire.
I removed all of the emission stuff on the stang but also had it turned off in the PCM.

EGR helps cool the combustion chamber, reducing NOX, increasing fuel mileage, reducing the chances of preignition (allowing for more timing advance).
All good, no bad.
Remove it if you want, or spend a little time learning how the system works and how to fix it.

I know i should not have taking it out but its been on for two years and i am just so tired of looking at it it just feels so good to not see that light when i go down the road now i just didnt know how to fix it or what to do
HI!... If you remove the EGR you can tune around it. IMO it's a useless piece of equippment. It only function at part throttle cruising speeds anyway. Doesn't work at idle and not at WOT.
