My 91 str 6 is shredding belts and coming off the tracks. I have replaced the tens. pulley and PS pump and the problem continues. All pulleys are smooth and the mounts are sound. The tensioner has plenty of spring tension.When we put on the PS pulley, we got it as straight as possible. We ran it for 20 min in the driveway, while revving the throttle and turning the steering wheel alot without a problem,only to have the 4th belt come off. Any suggestions guys?

Went through three belt's on the '97 once randomly at about 45k miles. For some reason the powersteering pump was missing a bolt and just a smidge out of line.

Use a metal straightedge and check every pully against each other.

Is the smog pump turning? Is the water pump leaking? What happens if you turn on the headlights & A/C at idle?

Don't stand in line with the belt without wearing goggles. Once you get the problem fixed, it'll be safe.
