How would i change the timing on my 86 f150 with an inline six, can i turn the distributer?

 

yes.
Remove the SPOUT plug from the harness and use a timng lite to tell what your doing.
Clean the front crank pully and chaulk it up so the lite shows the timing position as you change it.
Then put the plug back in.
You cannot time proprerly with the plug in place.

 

An '86 300ci doesn't have a SPOUT. It uses a vacuum distributor. Follow the instructions printed on the emissions sticker under the hood.
