Help In the middle of changing fans

01 supercrew 5.4
Im installing new dual electric fans.
Is there a certain way i have to take the old fan off the pulley? Ive got the fan shroud and itake off already. tried a quick search but need an answer asap, its starting to drizzle here and im running out of time! Will i need to lock the enigne or will the nut turn? Size?

Thanks

Cool

HI!... Are you trying to take the 4 pulley bolts off or the huge nut thats the fan shaft? If it's the fan shaft nut, it come off just like a regular nut. It's NOT a reverse thread. Some of the service manuals say it is, but it is not. I've seen some take off the fan by leaving the belt on and having someone put a breaker bar in the belt adjuster and pull on it to make the belt very tight. Others like to remove two of the water pump pulley bolts and install longer ones or leave one hole empty and insert a punch or lond screwdriver through the hole to make contact with the W/P or engine block to stop the water pump from turning when loosening the fan nut.
