5.4 3 Valve Motor.

Has there been any problems with these? I read about injectors causing engine failure, anyone know what years were effected?

I am pulling the trigger on a 06 or 07 this weekend and just having second thoughts about getting rid of my 97 5.4 which has been great.

Thanks.

'05+ 5.4 3Vs have sketchy injectors. Some are fine, some aren't. Otherwise, they're good engines.

Thanks for the info. I think it is safe to say they are decent, but have problems like any other motor?

I am going to look at some this weekend.

Must be a SuperCrew w/ 5.4 and Tow Package, that is all I really need.

You will find.. with anyone willing to be honest that the 5.4 will far outlast any chevy engine. Or dodge... or any other manufacturer. I wouldn't even worry about the engine in these trucks. They have sold more trucks than anyone for 30 years in a row for a reason.

I personally have had no bad experiences with the new 3valve trucks, but a buddy of mine's dad has had nothing but problems out of it. It's slow as crap too. (I was talking to him today about it) He didn't give me any specifics, but he said that it has had problems, and now the trans is slipping. Maybe you can post in the 04+ forum and see how those guys like their trucks... I wish I had one...

I pulled the trigger, the motor seems great so far...only 14 miles on it though.

Congratulations, I bought mine back in June of 05 and have since put 35K miles on it with no issues. There have been some simple TSBs for minor annoyances but other than that its obvioulsy built Ford Tough.
