Question parts?

Going to replace all the hoses as preventative maintenance on my 02' 5.4L engine I've had since Oct. of 2001, it's got 50K on it and mostly the undesirable city driving. Is there a "favorite" or preferred online parts store with this site? I'm looking for quality of course not the cheapest.,

thanks

your hoses should be fine at 50k.you do lots of city driving?? id do a complete coolant flush. keeping that coolant fresh will keep your radiator and hoses in good shape. i just use whatever brand autozone carries when i have to replace.im on 130k on my 97 4.6 still original radiator and hoses. i just replaced a few clamps with some better quality ones.they make the heavy duty hoses my 96 crown vic police pkg has the green heavy duty hoses thats a 4.6 though. not sure what site would carry those.

There's no reason to mess with your hoses. They are very good quality and should last the lifetime of the truck. It'll just be a waste of money. Just like replacing the water pump. The water pumps on these trucks usually outlast the engine!

If you do go to autozone just be careful, they've given me the wrong part more than just a couple of times. If you can, take the hoses in with you so you know the size and bends are correct.

Why replace the hoses? My 97 5.4L has 218K on the original hoses and waterpump. There is nothing wrong with them, so why replace? I checked them out at my last 100K anti-freeze replacement. No dry rot or cracks. Still looked like new........

The only hoses that I'm replacing is the heater core hoses back by the firewall.

They don't leak now but have in the past , there starting to get soft around the ends .. BUT shoot!! - Those have 206,000 miles on them lol... My rad hoses - never changed and ther'er stil like new..
