Stuck gas pedal

i am not having this problem but a friend of mine is. i haven't looked at the truck or drove it but i will explain what is happening and maybe someone had a similar problem. he owns a 01 4.2L 6cyl XL, when he hits the gas it will stick and just keep speeding up. if he keeps stomping the gas it will go back to normal. any ideas?

lubracation. The cable inside is prbably sticking. If you get down and look at the conections under the dash there might be something wrong under there too. But i grease and lubracate all the time.

Check the throttle cable that runs to the Throttle body. Start at the TB and make sure the plate isnt sticking, then work your way back making sure the throttle cable isn't pinched or binding somewhere.

Mine did this once. It had dirt in the tb as the result of an aftermarket air filter. Won't say which brand but...
