Towing Mileage
I Have '97 F250 4x4 5.4l 152,000 Miles. We Are Planning A Road Trip In Mid April, And Will Be Pulling A 23' Fifth Wheel Camper At About 6000lbs. What Kind Of Mileage Can I Expect In The 2500rpm Range? This Will Be For The Most Part, Interstate Driving. I Generally Get About 13.5 With A Combination Of Highway And Town, But That Is Empty.
I get around 10 mpg towing a #5000 TT..... I get around 15 mpg running empty for the most part.
I don't really monitor my towing mpg, as I just watch the gas gauge and when it gets to around half a tank, I start looking for gas stations... I've gone anywhere from 100 to 175 miles on that first half tank of gas towing my TT... Terrain is the biggest factor as well as traffic...
I figure If I'm towing my TT, then I'm not working and I'm out to enjoy myself! Gas mileage is the furthest thing from my mind and it's just part of the expense of this 'free' time!! Gotta PAY if you wanna PLAY!
