Another Idle problem.

It seems everytime I disconnect my battery it won't idle right afterwards. Today I changed my alternator. Took it for a spin and it wants to die when sitting in gear at a stop light. Put it in neutral and it helps. Rev it up and it idles back down to about 750-800. Then after about 10seconds goes down to about 500 and wants to die. Happend last time I disconnected the battery, but pretty much went away. Also no CEL.

Sounds like your pcm is resetting itself [ parameters] when you disconnect the battery. It should be back to normal within 50 miles. I would have your battery checked for voltage and amps.

By disconnecting power you reboot the computer to it's base setting.
To help the situation next time. Turn the lights and A/C heater on to load the engine a few minutes. Stop the engine and do it all again then run it for about 5 miles and several restarts.
This should settle it down enough but it wll still be learning and building the cold start and idle tables over an extended time as well as other table.
This is what happens when you empty it's brains like that, has to relearn.
Good luck.

When I pull up to a stop light it will idle fine for about 10secs. Then it starts to idle rough. Put it in nuetral, rev it up and it's fine for another 10secs. I'll give it a few days and see what happens. I love my Ford, but it has been giving me a few problems lately. It's a 2000 w/87,000 on it. By far it's been the best vehicle I have ever owned.

The tube going to the drivers side valve cover was disconnected. It runs fine now. Would this make it throw the codes it did?

P0136 - 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank No. 1 Sensor No. 2)
P0156 - 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank No. 2 Sensor No. 2)
P1131 - Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S 11) Switch, Sensor Indicates Lean (Bank #1)
P1151 - Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S 11) Switch, Sensor Indicates Lean (Bank #2)

Most likely it threw these codes because you had the vaccum leak. The air/fuel ratio was screwed up and the emission system detected it.

The light went off. That would probably be considered a major vacuum leak. Now I don't hate the thing anymore.
