i just purchased a 5.4 out of an 04 and i'm swapping it into my 97 mustang (has a 4.6 2V). i know it can be done, seen it done, and have the schematics for it just to get those questions out of your heads, lol. but i do have one concern...i've been trying to hunt down the wiring harness and ecu. could anyone help me with this. i've run out of places to look. i found the ecu on ebay, but without the harness it's kind of a waste of money. any help would be great.

 

There is a member who posts on here once in while who did this same swap, but he has a 96 stang, and he used the mustang ECM and harness. try to contact him and see if he can help you out. IIRC his screen name was ASSASINATOR (sp?)

arent the 4.6 and 5.4 ecms interchangeable?

 

i've already contacted a guy that has done several of the swaps with full write ups on it. i've got how to use my stock ecm and harness and how to use the 5.4 ecm and harness. if it were the 2V it wouldn't make a difference which one i used but b/c i have the 3V with the VCT i would like to take advantage of the VCT but the only way to do that is get the harness and ecm. otherwise i have to lock out the vct and just have slightly better flow than the 2V. but it would be so much better if i could take advantage of the VCT.

 

makes sense since you want to go that route. looked on ebay? may have to go through ford but id save that for last. look at www.rockauto.com.
