cruise control
My trucks in storage and the dealer wants the cruise control disconnected as they can't do the recall it until it's put on the road next September.
Which connector has the be removed from the master cylinder and do i have to disconnect the battery to do this. The truck is started weekly and ran to operating temp so I'd rather not reset the pcm if i can help it.
cheers

There's only one plug on the front of the master cylinder. (The other one is on the reservoir). No need to disconnect the battery. Simply unplug the connector, tape it up to prevent it from getting dirty, and zip-tie it to the throttle cable right next to it.

You can install a paperclip jumper in the wiring harness connector to make your cruise work. The only risk is if your brake light fuse ever blows, the cruise will NOT shut off when you press the brake; the engine will fight you until you press OFF. But that's a long shot.
I'm not sure which recall part your truck gets, but it's one of these:

Yes, you can.
However, it takes all of 10 minutes do do the recall properly if a tech and the parts are immediately available. Five of those minutes are for doing the paperwork.
Just drive by the dealer and "get 'r done!"

Just stop in at ANY Ford dealership across the country... the repair takes all of 10 minutes. Odds are it'll take you longer to process the paperwork than it will for them to do the repair. Most of the time they do it right there in the service bay (at least at my dealership).
Yes, unplugging it eliminates the fire hazard, but also disables the cruise control. You *can* install the paper clip jumper as mentioned, but as simple as the proper repair is, it's really not worth the effort.
