engine flush

engine flush

hey guys and dolls, i was wondering if it is safe to use an engine flush in my 98 f150 5.4L? its the type i add to my oil, then let the engine idle for a half hour, drain, then rinse out with a cheaper oil, then fill with my regular brand. its a dodge product. info would be much appreiciated...thanks.

I wouldn't put anything to the crankcase but oil..It's prolly just a synthetic..

If it's a 98, it probably has a lot of miles on it, so, no, don't flush it. Flushing is something you have to do periodically since new, not 200k later. If you flush it now, a lot of crap that's just sitting around being safe is going to get knocked loose and cause you a LOT of problems. I wouldn't be surprised if you had to pull the motor before the next oil change to be honest.

i agree. if you flush now you risk clogging up your oil screen with junk among other problems.

man don't flush you might break loose sludge and clogged you oil pump screen(pick-up)...find a high detergent oil I think they still make it and run it for 1k with changing you oil filter a few times
