Humming Noise?

It seems that every once in a while, when I am stopped at a light, my truck will make a high pitched humming noise. It sounds kind of like the fuel pump but like I said, it is only imtermittent and doesn't happen that often.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, I was away from the computer.

No, it is a loud humming noise with a medium-high pitch sound. It only does it for a short while when at a stop light and when I pull away it stops. Like I said, sometimes it does it, sometimes it does not.

I have not noticed any problems, just curious as to what the sound could be.

The Idle Air Control Valve needs to be replaced. There is a defect in the valve that causes air to leak into the air intake and the humming is the resonation of the air inside of the intake, just like a trumpet or other wind instrument. I don't remember how much it cost, just a few bucks, but the humming will go away immediately.

I had a Windstar that whistled real loud under light throttle when it was warm. I liked it, it made the van sound like a little jet, and believe me...... a damn mini-van needs all the help it can get in the cool department.

I am pretty sure that this is what is happening as I am also having starting issues. I cleaned out my IAC today and the truck starts fine but there is still the loud humming noise and it is loudest at the air filter (I have an aftermarket intake).

Thanks for the help.
