Oil

I got an oil light and started putting oil in. None showed up on the dipstick until I had put 5 quarts in!!!!

There are no puddles and appears to be no leak.

I haven't noticed any smoke from the back of the truck, but then again I wasn't really looking.

So I brought it in and the dealer did an oil change since the oil was pretty much black (even after adding 5 fresh quarts) and I am suppose to bring it back in once it gets a bit low again so we can figure out how bad it is burning the oil up.

Kinda funny, just the other day I was thinking that buying the extended warantee was a waste of money! I'm sure glad I got that now, I may end up with a new engine for $100 deductable!

No puddle, no smoke, no residual soot in the tailpipe, no nothing? You sure your truck isn't possessed by Rod Serling? That really seems strange especially if the oil light didn't come on.

whats been over a year? the oil change? maybe someone really needed some oil and decided to borrow some of yours:D. there was oil in the plug bore? maybe a bad valve cover gasket? did you poor all of the oil into the crankcase without accidently spilling it onto the engine? which plug bore was it? maybe you have a bad blow by. i know my truck went through a quart of oil a week because i had a bad blow by. maybe do a cylinder leakage test.

I pulled all of the plugs and none of them showed any sign of burned oil. Though one of the plug holes was filled with oil.

I haven't had a problem since though and it's been over a year.
