look, i am using all new auto meters for the new motor, the computer from the mustang. all i am wondering if anybody knows is some useful info here. will the 5.0 bolt up to a 2000 5 speed. will the upper intake clear the firewall with that larger upper intake. the 5.0 has an old school E cam. performer rpm heads, upper and lower. bbk 75mm throttle body and egr plate. pulleys and injectors. i was going to take out the stock 4.2 harness and replace it with the mustang one. if the motor bolts to the tranny, keep the tranny at stock angle and hook up the engine. mark the motor mounts to keep proper drive train alignment. throw in the aluminum radiator out of the stang and the electric fans. if anyone has any ideas or better ways i am open for suggestions. thanks for everyones help

The bell housing pattern is different for a 4.6L/5.4l or 5.0L/3.8L/4.2L engine and the two are incompatible. The two case types can be distinguished by looking at the starter flange area. If the starter has three attaching bolts, the case fits only 4.6/5.4 engines. A two-bolt starter indicates a 5.0L/3.8L/4.2L compatible case.
since you had a 4.2 then the 5.0 should bolt up. I'm not sure of the flywheel and clutch though. you'll need to see if the stang one fits.

making the engine work will just be time consuming but very possible. cutting and welding for the mounts. the hood should fit but if not get a cowl hood.

thanks for the help, you definatley helped me a lot here and i appreciate it. i wasn't going to weld the motor mounts, i was going to cut to move them of course but use about 3 hardened nuts and bolts on each mount. if this is a bad idea please lemme know. the mustang has an automatic tranny, how would i piece together a clutch? would a 5.0 clutch work in the 5 speed? i would eventually put a nice lil tremec in it but until it goes i am a lil short on cash for a new tranny now. what is the name of these 5 speeds? 47rw or whatever. thanks for the help
