Let us know - did you get a check engine light ? I think you said it cleared itself.

If you get a blinking light and then it goes totally out you still have a code in memory - so get it checked again..

You'll have a code stored unless you reset it already.

If you had a blinking light at all - that designates a misfire situation only and nothing else , it wouldn't be your MAF.

Just so your clear on that.

My prob fixed - replaced #8 COP - It's golden again!!! I lost a 1/4 inch 3" extension and socket tho - rolled under the plenum $%$@#%@#$%%$@#%!!!!!! Oh well , I'll fish for it some other day lol

I found the CRC MAF cleaner at Pep Boys (thanks Manny, Moe and Jack!) and did the job out in their parking lot...it immediately seemed to idle smoother. It also seemed to help drivability and almost eliminated the pinging that had become a constant. Now I need to get it out on the freeway for a long drive and try a couple of long grades and see if the missing/bucking problem is cured. I'll keep ya'll informed.

Not really 100hp haha, but it runs a heck of allot better.

Yeah I dropped one of the screws to the MAF when I was cleaning it at Pep Boys, I did find it though. The one time I got a Check Engine Light was the first time when it started to miss and buck and then lost power. That was last summer in the CA desert on a long grade (Chiriaco Summit) on I-10. The light didn't blink, just came on and stayed till I pulled over and shut the truck off. When I started it back up, after 30-45 seconds the light was out and stayed out although the truck continued to miss and buck at high speed. Anyway I am going out to CA this weekend again and I will let you all know what happens. I have cleaned my engine a couple times and although I try not to hit the wiring connectors with the spray you know it happens. So I will stop doing that. Old habits are hard to break, especially when your an old guy. If I get a return of the problem, on this trip I hope it will set a code because my programmer is supposed to read them out and clear them if needed. We'll see. P. S. I always run Chevron 91 octane gas and add a can of Techron every 5K or so, truck has 34K dealer serviced miles in just over a year. Happy New Year to All

I can almost assure you that what you are experiencing is an air fuel related issue. Your truck is running lean....Been there and done that ......Some times shows up within a few miles, and sometimes takes literally hundreds of miles to show up.....

COP's go out in peculiar ways , like #8 on mine. It got wet 2 months ago and the plug chamber must have had gas in it as well - man was I lucky it didn't ignite!!! Anyho, #8 COP didn't puke until a couple of months later - it was fine for awhile?

Good Luck!!

That would also account for the pinging, wouldn't it? And when it first happened my first thought was vapor lock (which shows you how old I am). So what was the out come with your truck? I drove the truck tonight and when pulling some of the hills it still feels like it is starving for fuel. I know Fords are known for fuel pump problems, could that be it? Hmmmm? The mystery continues.

Sounds like a fuel issue to me. Check the filter, and the pressure. If both of those are good, suspect a restrictive injector.

Yep and it occurs under light load, as expected with most new vehicles they tell me, but it really does it when it is bucking and missing, it will knock especially when it shifts up a gear under hard load.

What's weird is the shop diagnosed a # 5 injector sticking open and fouling the plug. They replaced the injector, or cleaned it up , and it still does it. I'm thinking fuel pressure is low and will check that. The filter was just changed, supposedly, but I'll eyeball it and see if it seems new.

I would check to see if that injectors new - pm me I'll ship yuh one if it's not. They should have checked fuel pressure already - look on your receipt.
