Thumbs up The Truck Project

My truck is over 10 years old and is finally starting to creek, ping, rust and crumble. The age is really starting to show. Mechanically, it is one thing after the other. The body is rusting and rusting and rusting. Time to consider... something.

It only took me a second to think about what to do. Do I buy a new truck? No. We're going to undergo an overhaul. Yep, we're talking blood sweat and tears in the hope that it will be even better than when it was first assembled in the plant.

I just can't imagine what old Barney was like back in his glory days. I've driven other trucks from those years and mine is falling way behind. I don't want anything that is going to scream and race. I want it back to almost stock, but with more performance and better tuning. So, Ford fans, truck fans of all kinds, I am calling you out for your attention and insight as I make progress.

This should be fun.

a far as the frame goes, id look around for someone that will pickle and box it. pickling will seal the metal and clean the frame, boxing will help with strength.

Okay, I will look into this ChiefFX4. It really needs to be stiffened up.

A formidable project to say the least. Sure would like to see the final cost when finished. I'll bet it will be close to new/almost new truck territory. Might I suggest going with rear disc also? And good luck with everything. especially that third pedal addition on the tranny swap.

Awsome, I can't wait to see the progress, for some reason I really like that body style, nothing like seeing an older truck/vehicle in pristine condition, good luck with it!
