Question When did you get you first....

oil change?

I am wondering when I should get my first oil change. I have had the truck for about 3-4months and it only has 1330mi. I have always lived by the 3months/3k mi. But for some reason Ford says 5k mi. So when should I start worrying about getting my oil changed?

And all the lube shops and oil companies would love you to continue to change your oil every 3 months or 3000 miles.

But auto manufactures have finally stepped up to the plate and recognized that today’s quality synthetic oils don't break down like to old petroleum oils did.

That is why most Fords now say 5000 miles and some GMs monitor your mileage, driving conditions etc to compute when to recommend that you change your oil.

If you want to stay in your comfort zone then I'd suggest you change it at 5000 miles or 6 months.

If you want to get really nuts, you could invest in some snake oil like Mobil 1, Amsoil, Royal Purple and a few other full synthetics and push it out to an unheard of 7500 miles between oil changes.

Me you could call crazy. But I'll go with Amsoil Synthetic Oil with a bypass filter system and pre-oiler; and oil changes at 25,000 miles or annually, whether I need it our not.

But that is just me.

I do mine every 3 months now that it's not my DD. I do about 1500 miles in 3 months.
